Dramatic gowns with full skirts and trains have long been a classic long for brides. Ballgowns can be strapless, have an illusion neckline, have (thin) spaghetti straps, or halter style.

Characterised by a fitted bodice (sometimes a corset), the ball gown silhouette has a wide and billowing full skirt yet retains a natural waist. The full skirt is often achieved using layers of tulle.

Busty brides tend to try on ball gown dresses as it can create balanced proportion with its full skirt.

Both have side seams that run vertically from the shoulder to the hem. The main difference is that the bodice is fitted at the waist in ball gown dresses with a full skirt where as an a-line does not have a full skirt.
