Strapless

Since the 1990s, the strapless wedding dress has been the most popular style. They remain as a top pick for the modern bride. As such, you will find that all bridal silhouettes come in strapless designs (i.e., mermaid, a-line, ball gown, trumpet, sheath).

Frequently Asked Questions

During these uncertain times, we are continuing to take in-person appointments for bridal fittings at our Ryde showroom. As the Australian Government continues to respond to the COVID-19, please be patient as we update our business practices to ensure your safety and those of the community.

All wedding dress viewing and fittings will be by appointment only. That is, no walk-in customers will be accepted.

Similarly, we request that you come to your bridal gown fitting with a maximum of three (3) additional guests or as NSW Health advises. All visitors must wear a mask as per NSW public health regulation.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to helping you find your dream wedding dress.

Anyone!

Due to its strapless nature, attention will naturally be to your arms, shoulders, neckline and décolletage.

One of the best things about a strapless wedding gown is that they come in all dress shapes – mermaidball gownfit & flaretrumpet etc.

PS – Emerald Bridal has a number of styles that have detachable dress straps.

In more recent times the strapless wedding dress has copped a fair bit of flak. Some describe them as accentuating broad shoulders, others say they can make them feel flat chested. Certain people think that strapless weddings are inappropriate for church weddings. And there will be plenty of magazine editors who will throw in the words ?armpit fat? when commenting on celebrities.

None of this matters.

What matters is that you feel comfortable and confident in your wedding dress. And this is why a personalised fitting appointment is so important. Anyone can order a dress online but you really have to try it on before you buy.

  • Beyonce (sweetheart neckline, ruffled train, paired with a long veil)
  • Kate Bosworth (full-skirted Oscar de la Renta)
  • Sofia Vergara (removable skirt with flowing train, silk-tulle)
  • Evelyn Lozada (lace Ines Di Santo, sweetheart neckline, mermaid-style flared skirt)
  • Chrissy Teigen (voluminous strapless ball gown with a structured bodice)

Bridal sizing is very different to normal clothing sizes. That is, wedding dresses tend to run smaller than your regular size.

We use the US standard sizing system and our in-store sample dresses range from size 8 – 12. A few of the sample gowns are available in plus sizes.

Most of our wedding gowns can be ordered in size 0 through 16.

Yes, an appointment is required for a fitting at our Sydney bridal showroom.

We insist our customers to come in for a personalised fitting. For this reason, we do not have an online shopping cart because we want each bride to experience what it feels like to try on a wedding dress and to find the one.

You can, however, make an appointment by phone or email to view and try on multiple dresses.

Our appointments run for 60-minutes.

Please give us a call on (02) 9808 5535 at your earliest convenience. FYI, we have a section called ‘last minute wedding dresses’.
