Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: 24 June 2026

Emerald Bridal (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a bridal boutique located in Ryde, New South Wales, Australia. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with care and transparency. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What personal information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit an enquiry or appointment request through our website, we collect the details you include — typically your name, email address, phone number, and wedding date.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we and our third-party service providers automatically collect certain technical information through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and approximate location. On its own this information does not usually identify you, but in some circumstances it may be personal information under the Privacy Act, and we treat it accordingly.

2. How we use your information

We use the personal information you submit to:

  • Respond to your enquiry or appointment request
  • Provide follow-up information about our gowns or services
  • Contact you regarding your appointment

We use automatically collected data to understand how visitors use our website and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. We do not use your personal information for direct marketing without your consent, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Where we send you marketing or promotional emails, each message will identify us as the sender and include an unsubscribe option, in accordance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

3. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with the following service providers to operate our website and marketing:

Resend (email delivery)

When you submit an enquiry form, the details you provide are transmitted to Resend, Inc. (USA) so the message can be delivered to our inbox. Resend processes this data solely to send the email and does not use it for other purposes. See Resend’s privacy policy.

Sanity (enquiry records)

When you submit an enquiry, a copy of your details (such as your name, email, phone number, wedding date, and message) is also stored in our content management system, provided by Sanity, so we can manage and follow up on your enquiry. This data is held on Sanity’s cloud infrastructure, which may be located outside Australia. See Sanity’s privacy policy.

Google Analytics (GA4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics collects pseudonymous data including pages visited, time spent, and device type. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your IP address; it is used only briefly to estimate your approximate (city-level) location and is then discarded. This data is processed by Google LLC and may be handled on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. See Google’s privacy policy.

Meta Pixel (Facebook)

We use the Meta Pixel to measure the performance of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The Pixel collects pseudonymous information — such as pages viewed, browser and device details, and cookie identifiers — and shares it with Meta Platforms, Inc. (USA). We have disabled Meta’s “Advanced Matching” feature, which means the personal details you enter into our forms (such as your name, email address, and phone number) are not sent to Meta. See Meta’s privacy policy.

4. Overseas disclosure

As described above, some of your information is disclosed to, or stored by, service providers located or operating outside Australia, including in the United States (Resend, Google, Meta, and Sanity). These disclosures are made to enable the services you use or benefit from. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle your information appropriately, but their practices are governed primarily by their own privacy policies and the laws of the countries in which they operate, which may differ from Australian law. By using our website and submitting an enquiry, you consent to this overseas disclosure.

5. Cookies & tracking technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by our website. We use the following types:

Essential storage

To remember the gowns you save to your wishlist, we store a small amount of data in your browser’s local storage on your device. This stays on your device, is not shared with anyone, and contains only references to the gowns you have saved — no personal details. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)

Google Analytics sets cookies (including _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish visitors and compile aggregate usage statistics. These cookies expire after 2 years.

Advertising cookies (Meta Pixel)

The Meta Pixel sets cookies (including _fbp and _fbc) to track page views for advertising measurement. These cookies expire after 90 days.

Managing cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Note that disabling cookies may affect how parts of the website function. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising by visiting youronlinechoices.com.au or by adjusting your ad preferences in your Facebook account settings.

6. How long we keep your information

We retain the personal information you provide through our enquiry form — including the copy held in our enquiry records (see “Sanity” above) — for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry and manage any follow-up, or as required by law. When we no longer need your information we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure. Our website uses HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

Under the Privacy Act 1988 you have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. To make a request, please contact us. We will respond within a reasonable time (usually 30 days). We may decline access in limited circumstances permitted by the APPs, and if we do so we will tell you why.

9. Privacy complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
