Essential Information

Can I come in for a wedding dress fitting during COVID-19?

During these uncertain times, we are committed to accepting in-person appointments for bridal fittings at our Ryde bridal boutique. However, as new public health measures are put into place, please be aware that this may change.

From March 28, 2020 we are no longer accepting walk-in customers. If you wish to try on a wedding gown you must make an appointment with us.

Similarly, we request that you come to your bridal gown fitting with a maximum of three (3) additional guests. All visitors must wear a mask as per NSW public health regulation.

These measures are to ensure your safety and the health and well-being of our team.

Thank you for your understanding.

What is the price range of your bridal gowns?

Our collection is mostly priced between $1,500 and $2,750. We have a number of sample wedding gowns that are on sale.

My wedding is in a few weeks, can you help?

Please give us a call on (02) 9808 5535 at your earliest convenience so that we can find an off-the-rack gown for you. Contact our head fitting stylist (Sandra) via email.

What sizes are your sample gowns?

Bridal sizing is very different to normal clothing sizes. That is, wedding gowns tend to run smaller than your regular size.

We use the US standard sizing system and most wedding gowns can be ordered in size 0 through 16. Our in-store sample ranges from size 8 to 12.

Periodically, Emerald Bridal releases sample gowns at huge discounts. You can find our collection of cheap wedding dresses on our ON SALE page.

We do not usually have plus size sample gowns in-store.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which wedding gown will suit my shape?

In all honesty, there is no way of knowing until you try a dress on and look in the mirror. There are all sorts of online advice on what bridal dresses suit a particular type of body shape.

Ignore these!

The best wedding dress is the one that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Give our wedding gown silhouettes guide a read to help you get a better understanding of what is available.

What wedding dress will make me appear more slender?

Larger sized brides will look beautiful in A-line dresses. The main thing you want to avoid is body-hugging designs that flare from the knees or above. The choice of fabric can also help you appear more slender. Choose a light fabric such as chiffon and silk over bulky fabrics such as velvet and satin.

What wedding dress will make me look taller?

A gown with a high neckline will help you achieve a taller look. You may also want to try on short sleeved or sleeveless dresses with long gloves to elongate your appearance.

What wedding gown will de-emphasize my bust?

For starters, avoid empire or cinched waists as these will accentuate larger breasts. Try, instead, a designer wedding v-neck dress or high neck wedding dress with a keyhole yoke. In terms of dress shape, ask your bridal shop stylist for a fitted bodice or a straight skirt.

What wedding gowns will de-emphasize my height?

For tall brides, a dropped waist (like the basque style) can help. Avoid column/sheath silhouettes as these can add the perception of a couple of vertical inches (which is the exact opposite of what you want). Beyond the dress itself, hats or dramatic veiling are other options to consider.

Do designer wedding dresses require alterations?

Yes. they do.

Off-the-rack wedding dresses (like the ones we offer) will require some form of alteration to ensure the perfect fit for you. We recommend having a quick look at our A-Z wedding dress terminology guide to make wedding gown shopping a little less confusing.

What do brides usually wear under their wedding dress?

Depending on the material of your wedding dress, wearing the right underwear is super important. To avoid embarrassment, as a rule of thumb, make sure that your undergarments match your skin tone.

Will I need an appointment?

Yes, to try on wedding dresses, an appointment is required for a fitting at our Sydney bridal showroom.

When should I start shopping for a wedding dress?

To ensure that your dress fits you perfectly, we recommend leaving a 6-month buffer. Whilst we can rush in certain orders, this will restrict the number of designs you may choose from.

Do you stock bridesmaid dresses?

We do! We have partnered with Alabaster The Label to provide your bridesmaids with gorgeous designs. Ask our stylists about them.

My wedding is in a few weeks, can you help?
