Column Wedding Dresses FAQs (Answered)

What is a sheath wedding dress?

The sheath or column wedding dress has a long, slim silhouette that follows the wearer’s natural body line without any flaring. It can have a hemline that sits anywhere from mid-thigh to mid-calf.

A sheath wedding dress can be strapless and non-strapless.

Are column wedding dresses still in trend?

Sheath wedding dresses can have long sleeves, be made entirely of satin material, be backless, have a high leg slit, have flutter sleeves, feature an illusion bodice, have a deep v-neck, be beaded, have cap sleeves, and pretty much anything you want.

So yes! Sheath wedding dresses are definitely in trend.

What celebrities have worn sheath wedding dresses?

In 1955, Marilyn Monroe wore light beige, figure-hugging wedding gown designed by Norman Norell and John Moore.

More recently, Idina Menzel (Disney’s Frozen vocal artist) wore a floor-length lace sheath wedding dress with off-shoulder flutter sleeves. It was designed by Carolina Herrera.

Which wedding dress will suit my body shape?

In all honesty, there is no way of knowing until you try a dress on and look in the mirror. There are all sorts of online advice on what wedding dress style suits what type of body shape. Ignore these! The best wedding dress is the one that makes you feel confident and comfortable.

Can I order by phone?

We insist our customers to come in for a personalised fitting. For this reason, we do not have an online shopping cart because we want each bride to experience what it feels like to try on a wedding dress and to find ‘the one’.

You can, however, make an appointment by phone or email to view and try on multiple dresses.

Our appointments run for 50-minutes.

Will I need an appointment?

Yes, an appointment is required for a fitting at our Sydney bridal showroom.

When should I start shopping for a wedding dress?

To ensure that your dress fits you perfectly, we recommend leaving a 6-month buffer. Whilst we can rush in certain orders, this will restrict the number of designs you may choose from.

What sizes are your sample gowns?

Bridal sizing is very different to normal clothing sizes. That is, wedding dresses tend to run smaller than your regular size.

We use the US standard sizing system and most wedding gowns can be ordered in size 0 through 16. Our in-store sample  ranges from size 8 – 12.

We do not usually have plus size sample gowns in-store.
