Off Shoulder Wedding Dress FAQs (Answered)
What is an off the shoulder wedding dress?
The off-the-shoulder wedding dress is a neckline style that can be found on almost all silhouettes. For example, you can have an off-the-shoulder mermaid wedding dress, an off shoulder trumpet, an off shoulder a line, and off the shoulder ball gown wedding dress.
An off the shoulder wedding dress is one where the fabric of the garment does not cover one or both shoulders. Regarded as both glam and feminine, the off shoulder reveals the décolletage and draws the eyes to your shoulders.
What famous brides have worn an off shoulder wedding dress?
Elizabeth Taylor (in her first of 8 marriages) wore a satin gown with a silk gauze off the shoulder illusion neckline that had a full skirt and long sleeves. What a total badass babe!
Other noteworthy celebrity brides include Michelle Obama, Hailey Bieber, Heidi Klum and Emmy Rossum.
Is an off the shoulder dress considered strapless?
As OTS (off the shoulder) dresses do not have straps, one could say that they are somewhat similar to the strapless neckline style.
Most wedding gowns are designed with a fitted bodice/waist – this helps the dress stay on you throughout the day.
What do you wear under an off the shoulder dress?
Top tip: find a bra fitting specialist.
What sizes are your sample gowns?
Bridal sizing is very different to normal clothing sizes. That is, wedding dresses tend to run smaller than your regular size.
We use the US standard sizing system and most wedding gowns can be ordered in size 0 through 16. Our in-store sample ranges from size 8 – 12.
We do not usually have plus size sample gowns in-store.
Where is your bridal store located?
We are centrally located within Parramatta, Chatswood, North Sydney, Sydney CBD, and Burwood. Emerald Bridal is located in Ryde, near Top Ryde Shopping Centre.
You’ll find us at 29 Devlin St, Ryde NSW 2112.
Will I need an appointment?
Yes, an appointment is required for a fitting at our Sydney bridal showroom.
When should I start shopping for a wedding dress?
To ensure that your dress fits you perfectly, we recommend leaving a 6-month buffer. Whilst we can rush in certain orders, this will restrict the number of designs you may choose from.
What is the price range of your bridal gowns?
The majority of our wedding dresses are priced between $1,500 and $3,000. We have a number of sample wedding gowns that are on sale.
Can I come in for a wedding dress fitting during COVID-19?
During these uncertain times, we are committed to accept in-person appointments for bridal fittings at our Ryde Showroom. However, as new public health measures are put into place, please be aware that this may change.
From March 28, 2020 we are no longer accepting walk-in customers. If you wish to try on a wedding gown you must make an appointment with us.
Similarly, we request that you come to your bridal gown fitting alone. However, we encourage you to FaceTime your mum or best friends during your appointment.
These measures are to ensure your safety and the health and well-being of our team.
Please follow these instructions:
- If you have returned from overseas, even if you are well, you must be isolated for 14 days from the date you arrived in Australia. Isolation means remaining at your home or in your accommodation.
- Do not come in for a bridal fitting within the isolation period.
- If you develop symptoms during your isolation period, seek medical attention via Telehealth.
Thank you for your understanding.
