The stylish glamour-style cut comes in many forms – strapless (with lace corset), backless, lace, long sleeve, cap sleeve, in satin, with straps, in silk, long train, off-the-shoulder, and with a leg slit.
The mermaid silhouette has an iconic hourglass silhouette.

Mermaid Wedding Dresses FAQs (Answered)
What is a mermaid wedding dress?
A mermaid wedding dress is characterised by a fitted style that will typically hug the body of the bride. The style of cut flares out at or below the knee which creates a mermaid-like tail (hence why it is also referred to as a fish-tail silhouette).
The tail will often feature beads, ruffles, and/or lace.
Mermaid dresses can have any length of train and can be strapless.
Are mermaid wedding dresses in trend right now?
Each year tends to have a trending silhouette (mostly influenced by the previous year’s celebrity weddings).
Mermaid wedding dresses have always been popular and are unlikely to go out of fashion. A modern twist on the classic favourite is to have a high-low gown.
Our recommendation is to ignore what is “in fashion” and instead, go to a bridal store and try on as many different styles as you can and choose one that feels and looks great on you.
If I intend to walk around a bit on my wedding day is a mermaid wedding dress bad decision?
Mermaid wedding dresses do tend to be restrictive for extension walking around due to the body-hugging nature of the cut. They can also make dancing a bit difficult so if you are the type of girl to get down on the dance floor, be forewarned.
