Top 5 Spring Wedding Dress Trends

With Spring now in full bloom, it’s time to take a look at the hottest seasonal Wedding Dress trends from home and around the world.

1.Capes and Capelets

Whilst we think that all of our brides are Wonder Women, we’re talking about a far more subtle and sophisticated kind of cape, or a shorter capelet, as seen here adorning our Angela and Gabrielle gowns. Capes and capelets are a perfect alternative for brides who don’t want to fuss with a veil but still want that something special to distinguish her as a bride. Capes are also a great option for adding a more formal, modest element for the wedding ceremony, which can then be removed to reveal a completely different look for your reception.

2.Dare to Bare

The style mavens have spoken – skin is in this spring - not by raising hems and lowering necklines but with sheer panels, illusion detailing, and dare-to-bare cut-out designs as show here with our Erika and Poppy gowns. We love this trend as it’s sexy without being skimpy and is suitable for all body types.

3.Beautiful Bows

Is there anything as feminine, romantic or whimsical as a bow? We adore them as you can see from our Abigail, Clara and Hailey gowns so we’re thrilled to see them popping up on the runways of the world, including in the collections of bridal wear icons such as Carolina Herrera, Sachin & Babi and Oscar de la Renta. Bows not only lend a gown a sense of drama and soft structure, but they also minimise the needs for other accessories.

 4.Sophisticated Sleeves

Major sleeves are a major-must this season – fit-and-flare bell sleeves, pioneer-style Juliet sleeves, long or quarter sleeves – as illustrated by our Ida, Julie (with detachable sleeves), and Lillian gowns. These sleeves lend an air of ethereal elegance whilst also giving comfort and confidence to brides who’d rather not bare their arms so soon after winter.

5.High Necklines

High necklines are high fashion this spring. As with the previous trends, there is a subtle shift towards modesty. A high neckline tends to draw the eye upwards allowing for statement jewellery and easy windswept updos. Opt for scalloped lace for a more romantic feel, as seen on our Sarah gown; or a more modern, satin-sleek line as shown on our Abigail, Beth and Gloria dresses.
